Rince agus Damhsa Teoranta was incorporated in 2001 as a company limited by guarantee. Company Number: 341446. The company operates under the registered business name: Irish Modern Dance Theatre.


The Revenue Commissioners granted charitable status to the company in January 2005 with the reference CHY 15296.


Consequent upon the commencement of the Charities Act, 2009, since October 2014 the company is a registered charity. Charity Number: 2005 2423.  By virtue of Section 2 of the Act, the directors of the company are deemed also to be charity trustees.

The Members of the company are Anthony Doyle, Charlotte McIvor, Gavin Quinn, Marina Rafter, John Scott, Michael Scott and Jürgen Simpson.

The Trustees/Directors Report and Financial Statements for the year ending 31 December 2015 will be prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) (FRS102) as recommended by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.


In June 2015 the trustees / directors committed to working towards compliance with the Code of Governance for Community and Voluntary Organisations www.governancecode.ie  and with the Principles of Good Fund Raising, as drawn up by the Irish Charities Tax Reform Group (ICTRG).

The trustees/directors of the company have ultimate responsibility for the general wellbeing and effective governance of the company. 


The year in which each director/trustee joined the board is given in parentheses.


Anthony Doyle, Chair (2009) is a Fund Accounting Manager at GAM Fund Management which is part of the GAM Holding Group. He has worked for over 15 years in the investment and funds industry in both Australia and Ireland and has a broad range of skills including accountancy, corporate governance, fund administration and people management. Anthony was a member of the Palestrina Choir and the Lassus Scholars, during which time he performed in various venues throughout Europe, Canada, the US and Russia.



Charlotte McIvor (2015) lectures in Drama and Gender studies at NUI Galway. She received a PhD in Performance Studies from the University of California, Berkeley and taught at California College of the Arts and Santa Clara University. Charlotte was the creator and director of UC’s Summer Abroad programme, ‘Irish Theater Today’, which ran from 2011 to 2013.


Maureen McSherry (2012) is a playwright and producer.


Gavin Quinn (2009) is one of the co-founders (with Aedín Cosgrove) of Pan Pan Theatre Company.  Outside of his work with Pan Pan, Gavin has directed for opera.


Marina Rafter (2001) is an arts consultant and producer. She is former General Manager of Irish Modern Dance. Subsequently, she was Artistic Director of Éigse Carlow Arts Festival, and from 2002-2006 Marina was associate programmer and General Manager for International Dance Festival of Ireland.


Michael Scott (2001) has been Theatre Director at Project Arts Centre, Programme Director, Dublin Theatre Festival, and Director of the Tivoli Theatre.  He currently is Artistic Director of City Theatre Dublin. His productions have been seen in Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Iceland and the USA.


Jürgen Simpson (2004) is the director of the Centre for Computational Musicology and Computer Music at the University of Limerick and co-founder of Light Moves Dance on Film festival. His work spans multiple media and approaches, including electroacoustic works, opera, music for film, dance, and sound installations. He has collaborated with numerous composers and has written two operas.

 


Artistic Director

John Scott is employed by the company as Artistic Director and Chief Executive and Company Secretary.  As an officer of the company, he also is deemed to be a charity trustee.


The CEO’s current annual remuneration package is within the range €51,000 to €60,000.
